EPCOT Festival of the Arts Part 2

Since my stomach is not big enough for the entire festival in one day, I have to break it up.  Today was round 2 of the tasty offerings.

The Figment popcorn bucket was thankfully sold out so I was finally able to get in a reasonable line to taste test the tomato soup and bacon, apple brie grilled cheese.  I waited about 15 minutes which beat the 7-hour wait on Friday.

Pop Eats

The soup was perfection.  If I could eat tomato soup like this every day I would gladly do so.  It was so flavorful.  The grilled cheese was great but I have to say I did not taste the apples.  I would absolutely have this dish again though.

El Artista Hambriento

Located at the entrance to the Mexican pavilion this stop has some exciting offerings.  Although I have not yet tried the Carne Asada it was quite popular and I hear it is excellent.  I am saving that one to share with my husband.

I tried the following 3 items. The Huarache Verde is a Cilantro Huarache with pineapple and pickled onion and the star of the show the Cochinita Pibil.  This would have been wonderful if it was hotter.  It had been sitting a bit and I think it made the base soggy and could have been warmer but the flavor was great.  I will say that all the items at this cart are pretty messy though so grab some napkins and be willing to just dive in and get your hands a bit messy.  I, personally, am a person who is ok with some sloppy eating when it means enjoying fully the food in front of you.

Taco de Chocolate

The Lily

The Taco de Chocolate is exactly what its name says.  It is a small taco-shaped form stuffed with a chocolate mousse.  Don't expect to eat this in a dignified manner.  It was an absolute tasty mess.  I had chocolate everywhere. But it was really good and worth the sticky licky fingers.  The fruity extras on the plate made a nice blend with the chocolate and made sure to eat all of it.

The Lily was small but packed a punch with Casa Dragones Blanco Tequila, violet essence infusion, rose petal liqueur, cranberry and lime juice.

The Artist's Table

I almost accidentally waited in line for this cart for over an hour on Friday but I was smart enough to ask someone at the front of the line how long they had been waiting.  I really wanted to try this food as the menu seemed one of the best of the festival.  So I returned today to a much shorter line and opted to try all 3 of the food offerings.

The Pan-seared Scallops with butternut squash & brown butter cauliflower puree and lime foam featured 2 scallops.  This was not a bad dish.  The scallops were cooked well and the puree was excellent.  That being said it was not one of my favorite dishes.  Not bad but not a wow moment.  This is one of the items to complete the walk of colorful cuisine so glad I at least tried it.

Pistachio Cake

I hate both cherries and pistachios but I could not resist trying
this dish.  It was stunning to look at I am someone who eats with my eyes.  If you can make something look pretty I will always at least try it.  This dish surprised me.  The cherry was presented in multiple ways including the adorable little chocolate "cherries" which were a pleasant and fun unexpected surprise.  There are a lot of textures going on here too.  This dish was a win and beautiful to look at as well.

Beef Wellington

I had high hopes for the Beef Wellington dish but Chef Ramsay would be unimpressed I think.  It was not awful.  But it was definitely not my favorite.  I had some regrets here.  I wanted to love it but just didn't.

L'Art de la Cuisine Francaise

One more item to add to the list of things I have tried at this cart in the France pavilion.  The Moelleux aux Noisettes et Chocolats Valrhona - a chocolate and hazelnut cake with Valrhona chocolates in a molten cake was a big win.  I really liked this.  I am a big fan of lava cakes so it's hard to go wrong with that for me.  This did not disappoint.  This cart has a lot of really great items as referenced in my previous post.  This cake is just another reason to stand in that always perpetually long line.  It's long for a reason!

Stay tuned to see what I put in my stomach next time!
